Streich, LaVay Inez 93


LaVay Inez Streich (Peterson) was born on July 23,1923 to Millard and Lorraine Peterson in Henning, Minnesota. She was the oldest of four children. She graduated from Howard Lake High School in 1943. After graduation she worked at a department store in Minneapolis.
In high school, she met the love of her life, Ralph Streich and in 1945; they were married at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake. Together they had four children; Gary, Judy, Rick, and Steve. As a family, they made their home on a farm between Howard Lake and Waverly. LaVay spent many years working on the farm, homemaking, raising Norwegian Elk Hound dogs, and she sold Avon products for extra money.
LaVay and her family were members of the St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake, Minnesota. They loved to go on vacation every summer to a lake up north as well as trips to Montana & North Dakota. For fun, LaVay enjoyed bingo, playing cards, loved her time on the farm, and especially cherished her candy.
During her last years, LaVay made her home at Elim Nursing Home and recently to Good Samaritan Center where she passed away on Thursday, May 18th, 2017.
She was survived by her children; Gary (Rita) Streich, Judy(Steve) Gagnon, Rick ( Michelle) Streich, and daughter- in-law Mary Streich and Her Brother Butch, Many grandchildren; Carrie(Dusty) Dirks, Jackie(Kyle) Thompson, Chad(Katie) Gagnon, Dean (Jen) Gagnon, Jenna(Kyle) Wills, Jake(Anna) Streich, Mathew Streich, Chelsea(Grant) Wickesberg, Stephanie(Joey) Graczyk, Jessica Streich, Ryan(Amy) Streich, Brittany Long, and 24 great-grandchildren.
LaVay was proceeded in death by her parents Millard & Lorraine, her husband of 48 years, Ralph, her Youngest son Steve(T.T), her sisters Avis & Darlene and her brother in-law Don Streich.
Arrangements were made by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Howard Lake, Minn.
Funeral services: St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake on Tuesday May 23rd 2017 at 2:00 PM. Visitation: 1 hour prior to services at church.
Interment was at the Howard Lake Cemetery. Pallbearers were her grandchildren; Carrie Dirks, Chad Gagnon, Dean Gagnon, Jake Streich, Matthew Streich, and Ryan Streich.
