Jacobs, Larry Dean
age 72, of Howard Lake passed away on May 9, 2015 at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, Minnesota. He was born, March 22, 1943 in Madison, South Dakota. Following graduation from Madison High School, Larry enlisted in the United States Navy. Following his service in the Navy, he attended college at General Beadle College in Madison, South Dakota. Larry was united in marriage to Nancy Holdorf on April 22, 1967 in Brentford, South Dakota. He received his teaching degree in 1968. Larry and Nancy were blessed with the birth of 3 boys. They made their life together in Howard Lake, Minnesota. Larry taught at Dassel-Cokato Schools until he retired in 2002.
He was an avid outdoorsman, where he spent most of his hours working on his yard and garden, as well as hunting and fishing with friends and family. Larry particularily enjoyed time spent with his 7 grandchildren, whom he all called “George.”
Preceded in death by his father, John Jacobs, mother, Dorothy Christenson, brother, Doug Jacobs, and step-father, Vernon “Bumper” Christenson.
Survived by his wife, Nancy, children, Bill (Linda), Jason (Sara), and Chris (Briana), grandchildren, Ambriel, Ariana, Grace, Emily, Lucy, Wyatt, and Kade, and sister, Marcella (Jim) Gregerson.
A celebration of Larry’s life will take place on Saturday, May 16, 2015, 1:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church in Howard Lake. Visitation will take place on Friday, May 15, 2015, 5-8 PM at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Howard Lake and continue 1 hour prior to the services at church. www.swansonpeterson.com 320-543-3401.
