LeRoy A. Hanson

LeRoy A. Hanson, age 92, of rural South Haven died Dec 12th, 2012 at Lakeside Health Care Center of Dassel.

He was born at home in French Lake Twp on August 11th, 1920 to Fred and Edith (Ortquist) Hanson. LeRoy attended Lee Country School of rural French Lake, and honorably served his country as an M.P. in the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific and was a member of the American Legion. He also was a long-time active member of Grace Lutheran Church and served on the church and cemetery boards.

LeRoy was united in marriage to Gladys Johnson on October 11th, 1947. They farmed the family farm and he was also employed by Russell Morris Tiling, Cokato Lumberyard, and Northland Canning of Cokato. He enjoyed farming and was remembered for his wonderful garden.

He is survived by his wife Gladys of rural South Haven, brother Herbert (Ellen) Hanson of St. Cloud, brother-in-law Floyd Isaacson of Cokato, children Keith (Joanie) Hanson of South Haven, Maxine (Kim) Cates of Kingston, Barry (Laura) Hanson of Annandale, Peggy (Tom) Steinman of Willmar, and Nancy (Roger) Mann of Grand Rapids; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and Care Center roommate and good friend Don Danielson. LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, sister Rosilyn Isaacson, and 1 grandson – Paul Cates.

Funeral services will take place at 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 16th, 2012, at Grace Lutheran Church in rural South Haven. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers are his grandchildren and honorary pallbearers are the great-grandchildren. Interment with military honors by Kingston American Legion at Grace Lutheran Cemetery will follow the service.
