age 79, of Howard Lake, passed away at his home on 9/11. He is survived by his nine children-Mike (Chris), Mark, Linda, Lila, Lynette Kleve, Matthew “Chuck” (Darla), Merlyn “Pete”, Wendy Drusch, Craig “Toby”(Debi) and Daryl “Taddy” (Julie). Memorial service, Saturday, 9/14,  11 am. at St James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake. Visitation, Friday, 9/13, 5-9pm and continuing 1 hr. prior to the service all at church.

OBITUARY

Harvey Herbert Drusch was born on the family farm near Montrose, Minnesota on August 16, 1934, the son of Fred and Katherine (Gloege) Drusch.  He was baptized on September 9, 1934 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Delano by E.H. Burns and confirmed in his faith at this same church on March 21, 1948.

He attended Montrose “Tech” School.  On March 30, 1954, he was united in marriage to Lorraine Zabel at her parents’ home by Reverend M.H. Hanke. Their 47 years together were blessed with the births of nine children.  They made their home on a farm south of Montrose and moved to their present home in Howard Lake in the spring of 1960.

Over the years Harvey’s career included driving truck for Munson Feeds, Day Distributing and Litfin Trucking.  He bartended at the Howard Lake Municipal Liquor Store and for a short time volunteered as a fireman.  For many years he managed the Delano American Legion until 1993 when he retired due to failing eye sight.

In retirement he took up gardening and canning. He enjoyed sharing the bounty of his garden with friends and family.  Many enjoyed his salsa and sun pickles.  Volunteering at St. James Lutheran School, he helped with the can recycling program.  Harvey enjoyed fishing, hunting, fishing, playing cards, fishing and spending time with his family and friends and fishing with them.

It was on September 11, 2013 that Harvey was called to his eternal rest.  He had reached the age of 79 years and 26 days.  He was surrounded by his family in his own home as he took the hand of the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine; parents Fred and Katherine Drusch; father and mother-in-law Ed and Irene Zabel; one sister-in-law Arlene; two brothers-in-law Dick Rolf and Willard Schuette; a nephew Leslie; and two great-grand babies.

Harvey is survived by his nine children; Mike and wife Chris of Waverly, Mark, Linda, Lila, Lynette Kleve, Matthew (Chuck) and his wife Darla, Merlyn (Pete) all of Howard Lake, Wendy Drusch, Craig (Toby) and his wife Debi of Delano and Daryl (Taddy) and his wife Julie of Howard Lake.

He is further survived by seventeen grandchildren Holly and husband Chris, Chris and Terra, Josh, Nathan and his wife Melissa, Naomi and her husband Nick, Nicholas, Tiffany, Sarah, Amber and her husband Dan, Crystal, Samantha, Jonathan, Jennifer, Rebecca, Katlyn, Cassandra and Taylor; six great-grandchildren; Adan, Jordan, Allie, Ethan, Bryer and Grayson; one brother Don and his wife Ruby; one sister Elaine and her husband Larry Heyer; sister-in-law Beverly Schuette; brother-in-law Joel Zabel and his wife Linda; Kate, Paul and Henry Jewett; nieces; nephews and multitude of family and friends.

Urn bearer was Whitey Robertson.

Officiating at the celebration of his life on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 11:00 am was Reverend David Taylor and Reverend Michael Nirva. Katie Stevens served as organist with special music by soloist Marge Stueven.

A private family interment will be held at the St. James Cemetery Dutch Lake on a later date.  His children will carry him to his final resting place.
