Strohschein, Albert Arthur 96

Albert Arthur Strohschein was born on July 8, 1918 in Silver Creek Township, Wright County, Minnesota the son of Albert W. and Augusta (Bobrowska) Strohschein. He was baptized on August 4, 1918 at the Lutheran Church of Corinna Township by Pastor Alfred Streufert and confirmed in his faith by Pastor W.D. Kanning at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Middleville Township.

After Albert graduated from Buffalo High School in 1937, he managed the family farm. On February 28, 1947, he was married to Bessie Marohn at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Middleville. Their 64 years together were blessed with two children, Bruce and Lois.

They lived in Howard Lake where Albert and his brother Leonard owned and operated a Phillips 66 gas station and bulk delivery business from 1947 to 1965. After Leonard’s passing Albert continued with the bulk delivery service and petroleum distributorship until retiring in 1980.

Albert was a faithful member of St. James Lutheran Church, Howard Lake and had served as an Elder and sang in the church choir. He enjoyed wood refinishing, collecting antiques, gardening, and spending time with his family.

On March 10, 2015 while a resident at the Annandale Care Center, Albert was called to his eternal rest having reached the age of 96 years, 8 months and 3 days.

He was preceded in death by his wife Bess; parents Albert and Augusta Strohschein; brothers and sisters-in-law Leonard and Ruth, Marcus and Vi; sister-in-law Frieda and husband Fred Schendel.

Albert is survived by his son Bruce (Shirley) Strohschein of Shakopee; daughter Lois Strohschein of Annandale; two grandchildren Andrew (Annalisa) Strohschein residing in England and Jessica (Matthew) Volkman of St. Louis Park; nieces; nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake, with visitation 1 hour prior to the service at Church.

Pallbearers are Jessica Volkman, Matthew Volkman, Bob Schendel, Dr. Jonathan Strohschein, Rev. David Strohschein, and Tom Krohn.

Officiating at the celebration of his life is Reverend William Keller with Nancy Butterfass serving as organist.

Interment will be at the Howard Lake Cemetery.
