Visitation: 4-8 PM Tuesday, at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Cokato, and 1 hr prior to services at church on Wednesday

Lucille Eleanor Ruge Melquist was born in Albion Township of
Wright County, on March 19, 1926 to Hans and Della (Stueven) Ruge, and grew up
on the family farm in Albion Township.
She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Evangelical and Reformed
Church of Maple Lake, Minnesota. Her first job was at Albion country store where
she worked for a dollar a day.  She
graduated from Maple Lake High School in 1944.

 

On May 14, 1947 she was united in marriage to Virgil
Melquist at her church in Maple Lake.  To
this union 2 children; Duane and Daryl were born.

 

She worked for a time at Northrop King in Minneapolis,
Northland Canning, and Johnson Produce in Cokato.  Most of all she raised her family and worked
with Virgil on the farm.  She enjoyed
dancing (polka and waltz), cooking, quilting (she made quilts for each one of
her grandchildren) and she always had a large garden that was well kept.
Lucille especially loved her family and her church and carried the love of  Jesus in her heart all her life.

 

Lucille passed away at her home in Middleville Township on
November 17, 2012.  She had reached the
age of 86 years, 7 months and 28 days.
Survivors include: her husband Virgil, sons Duane (Mary) of Cokato and
Daryl (Linda) of Eden Prairie.
Grandchildren: Damon (Tresha) Melquist of Cokato, Stephanie (Dan)
Robertson of Cokato, Michelle Melquist of Cokato,  Amber (Tom) Lacina of  Shakopee, Kalie Melquist of  Saint Paul.            Great grandchildren: Kenzie, Kylie,
and Kasey Melquist, Olivia, Gabrielle, and Raquel Robertson, and Adalyn, and
Sawyer Lacina.

 

Lucille is preceded in death by her parents Hans and Della
Ruge and sister Florence Knuth.
