Victoria (Vickie) Minnie Mealey a/k/a Grandma Vickie, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2014 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital due to complications from a massive stroke.  Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family and friends made her final days peaceful.

Vickie was born on June 8, 1941 in Litchfield, MN to Viggo and Minnie Christensen.  She has 3 sisters and 6 brothers – Ruth, Darold, Viggo and Thomas; preceded in death by James, Robert, Gerald, Mary and Doris.

Vickie was known for her ease in frequent conversation with even total strangers.  Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many.  Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and joking around, will never be forgotten.

Possessing a true servant’s heart, Vickie faithfully cared for family and friends.  Vickie was a woman of faith and the heart of her family.  With a real zest for life, Vickie loved to go to the cabin, the casino, play games/cards – especially with her grandchildren, chat and have coffee with friends and family.

Vickie is survived by her children – David Braatz, Andrea (Donovan) Hanson, and Beth (Chris) Chapman and daughter-in-law Joleen Braatz.  Grandmother to 12; Josh, Dan, Hope, Courtnie, Adam, Charlie, Jasamyne, Casey, Jaibyne, Samaya, Noah and Luke.  Great Grandmother to Orion and Kadence.

Vickie was preceded in death by her son Mark Braatz, parents, siblings and husband James Mealey.

Vickie’s legacy will be carried on in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren – the lives she formed and touched by her love.
