Bernice Marquette passed away at Brookridge assisted living of Cokato on 1/17/2016.

Funeral Service: 2 PM Thursday 1/21/2016 at Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cokato

Visitation: 1-2 PM Saturday 1/23/2016 at Peever Lutheran Church, Peever South Dakota. and 1hr prior to service at Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cokato.

Interment: Peever Cemetery

Bernice Dorothy Marquette was born at Wilmot, South Dakota on June 18, 1930, to Bert and Dorthy (Law) German. She grew up on a farm near Peever, South Dakota, and was baptized and confirmed at the Peever Lutheran Church. She attended school in Peever. When Bernice was 18 she took a job in California as a nanny. She stayed 2 years then came back home.
In the 1950’s Bernice married Gene Marquette. The couple made their home in Minnesota; to this union a daughter Debbie was born. Besides being a nanny Bernice had many jobs she worked at the nursing home in Cokato, as a waitress in South Haven and Annandale. She worked at a bakery in Rockford and worked at the Milbank hospital and nursing home for 19 years.
Bernice came from a musical family, she enjoyed all music mostly old time, and gospel Bruce Hoffman was her favorite musician. She enjoyed dancing, tour trips to concerts and Branson, and watching the “Young and the Restless”. Mostly she enjoyed her friends and family. She enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren, and the birthday club.
Bernice passed away at Brookridge assisted living in Cokato on January 17, 2016. She had reached the age of 85 years, 6 months and 29 days. Survivors include her daughter Debbie Sheldon of Cokato, Grand children: Sonia (Scott) Ewald of Brownton, Chantel (Brice) Gillman of Darwin, Sarah Sheldon of Cokato, Kevin Sheldon of Cokato and Kyle Sheldon of Cokato. 5 great grand daughters; Isabella, Brooklyn, Morgan, McKenna, Leah. 3 great grand sons; Gaven, Bodee, and Deon. Sisters; Jeanette Snazy of Grenville, South Dakota, and Charolette Fryer of Milbank, South Dakota.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents Bert and Dorthy, 2 sisters Yvonne Skogland, and Deeann Jensen. Brothers Herbert, Harold and
Allan German.
