Kotila, Ardyce Ruth 88

Ardyce Ruth Morris was born March 11th,1925 to Emil and Hannah (Hill) Morris in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at North Crow River Lutheran Church where she remained a lifetime member. She attended Birch Lake country school and graduated from Cokato High School in 1942.

Ardyce married Nels Kotila on May 29, 1943 to this union 5 children were born. They farmed together on their farm north of Cokato until they moved to the Cokato apartments. Ardyce enjoyed sewing, weaving, quilting, gardening and visiting. She especially enjoyed entertaining her family and friends for Saturday night sauna. Ardyce and Nels spent many winters in Yuma, Arizona.

Ardyce entered Cokato Manor on July 2007, where she lived until she passed away on June 6th, 2013 at the age of 88 years 2 months and 25 days.

Ardyce is survived by her children Karen (Larry) Goga, Kathy (Del) Young, Ruth (Darrel) Miller, Mark (Joan) Kotila of Cokato and Susie Hutchins of Hutchinson. Twenty two
grandchildren and fifty three great grandchildren.  Sister Betty (Arden) Severson and Brother-in-law Martin (Joyce) Kotila, Sister-in-law Maria Morris and Impie Olson of Cokato. Also survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents Emil and Hannah, husband Nels, brother Russell Morris, and son-in-law Chuck Hutchins.

Funeral Service: Monday, June 10, 2013, 11 am at North Crow River Lutheran Church north of Cokato

Visitation: Sunday, June 9, 2013, 4-7 pm with 7 pm prayer at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato and 1 hour prior to services at church.

Interment: Cokato Finnish Cemetery immediately following services at church

Hardel, Keith Richard 66

Hardel, Keith Richard, age 66 of Howard Lake passed away unexpectedly on May 21, 2013. Keith was born December 26, 1946 in Saint Peter, MN. to Harold and Orma (Willmsen) Hardel. He was confirmed May 19, 1961 at St John’s Lutheran Church in Arlington Township, MN. Keith graduated in 1965 from Cokato High School. Following graduation, he worked for Hitchcock Industries until his retirement. Keith was united in marriage to Denise Dekart on January 9, 1971 in St. Cloud, MN.

He enjoyed snowmobiling, bowling, yard work, and fixing anything that ran.

Survived by sons Carl (Sara), and Jeramie Hardel, brothers, Burt (Jan), Perry (Cindy Siebels), and Hal (Kyle) Hardel, grandsons Mason and Hayden Hardel.

Preceded in death by his parents, and wife.

Funeral service: Tuesday, May 28, 2013, 11 am at Mount Hermon Lutheran Church of Annandale, MN.

Visitation: Monday, May 27, 2013, 5-7pm at Swanson Peterson Funeral Home in Howard Lake, MN and 1 hour prior to the service at church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.

Terry passed away May 19, 2013, at Meeker County Memorial Hospital

Terry Charles Varcoe was born at the Cokato Hospital on March 29, 1951, to Buell
and Leone (Anderson) Varcoe.  He grew up in Cokato, Mn., and was baptized and
confirmed at the Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Terry attended Cokato High
School, and went to work at the 7up factory in Cokato.  When it closed he went
to work at The Cokato Block and Tile factory, working first for Donald Martinson
and later owner Wade Nelson.  When the tile factory closed he worked for a short
time at Schwartz Manufacturing in Cokato and attended Hutchinson Tech., for tool
and dye.  He then took a job at Dura Supreme and has worked there for 25+
years.

Terry enjoyed relaxing at the picnic table with his dog. He liked
hunting and fishing, and loved to garden. He built bird houses and other wood
projects. He enjoyed fireworks, camp fires, and most of all socializing with his
many friends.

Terry passed away suddenly from a heart attack and was
later pronounced dead the Meeker County Memorial Hospital in Litchfield on May
19, 2013.  He had reached the age of 62years, 1 month and 20
days.

Survivors include: sister Trudy Webb, her daughters, Tracy and
Jammie, and their daughters, Ashleigh and Emily.   Brothers Stuart (Karen)
Johnson and their daughter Dagney, and Darrel (Mary Jane) Johnson and their
children Kristy and Craig.  Terry is also survived by countless family and
friends, including his special friend Nancy Wipper.

Terry was preceded in
death by: his parents Buell and Leone Varcoe.

Holmquist, Paul Arvid 68

Paul of Cokato Passed away May 10, 2013 at Mercy Hospital of Coon Rapids

Visitation: 4-8 PM Monday at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Cokato and 1hr prior to service at church on Tuesday

Paul Arvid Holmquist was born in Cokato,
Minnesota on April 6, 1945 to Melvin and Fern (Larson) Holmquist.  He was baptized and confirmed at the
Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cokato and remained a life long member.  Paul graduated from Cokato
High School in 1966.

 

Paul worked with his father Melvin, delivering dairy
products in and around Cokato.  In 1981
Mel retired and Paul took a job as a custodian at the Dassel
Cokato High School,
working there until 2009.  He has lived
at the Cokato Apartments for the past 20 years helping with senior dinning and
other tasks at the apartments.

 

Paul was an avid sports fan.
He enjoyed watching all sports at Cokato
High School and Dassel-Cokato
High School.  He was an enthusiastic Twins and Vikings fan
and attended many games.  Harmon
Killebrew was his favorite athlete.  He
collected programs from all sporting events.
Most of all Paul enjoyed people; he made friends easily and enjoyed visiting.  Paul received the Aquatennial Commodores
Award at the Cokato Corn Carnival.

 

Paul passed away at Mercy Hospital of Coon Rapids on May 10, 2013. He had reached the age
of 68 years, 1 month and 4 days.
Survivors include his brothers; David Holmquist of New
Jersey, and Mike (Belinda) Holmquist of Cokato.  Nieces, nephews, great nieces and great
nephews, cousins and many friends.

 

Paul was preceded in death by: his parents Melvin and Fern,
and niece Wendy Holmquist.
