Braatz, Daniel Ryan 31

Daniel Ryan Braatz, 31, Drayton, ND, was called to heaven on April 2, 2015.
Daniel was born Feb. 28, 1984, in Hutchinson, Minn. He was baptized and confirmed at Evangelical Lutheran Church, Cokato, MN. He graduated from Buffalo High School, Buffalo, MN, in 2002.
He worked as secretary for Drayton Lutheran Parish for two years before starting school at Josef’s School of Hair Design, Grand Forks, ND. He received several awards while there for his outstanding artistic work. After graduating in 2014 he worked at Olivieri’s Salon and Spa in Grand Forks, ND, where he had many close friends and loyal clients.
Daniel was very creative and enjoyed making all kinds of crafts and quilts as well as gardening, spending time at the lake, and thrift shopping where he found numerous treasures for his family members and friends. His favorite pastime was attending various festivals doing what he loved most hula-hooping and entertaining all the kindred souls around him. There were no strangers in Daniel’s life; he was an angel who spent his life entertaining angels. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and loyal friends.
He is survived by his mother and step-father Shelley and Bruce Martinson, Drayton, ND; sister Hope Braatz (fiancé Toby Shittu), Devils Lake, ND; brother Adam Braatz (fiancé Beth Maas), South Haven, Minn.; sister Charstyn Martinson, Devils Lake, ND; step-mother Joleene Braatz, Buffalo, MN, step-brothers Josh Frisen, Charlie Druar and Casey Druar; grandparents Roger (Joanne) Braatz; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and hundreds of friends.
There to meet him in heaven were his father, Mark Braatz; grandparents Clarence and Shirley Holman and Vickie Mealey; step-grandparents Arnold and Pauline Martinson and Hal and Bev Clifton.
Sir Daniel Sunshine’s motto was “Leave a little sparkle wherever you go.” He found all he was destined to give in every soul who sparkles because he lived.
Memorial Service: 3 PM Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cokato
Visitation: begins at 1 PM Saturday at Church.

Quincy, Fabian Lee 49

Fabian Lee Quincy, age 49, of Cokato, died Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at his home.
A funeral service will take place Monday, March 30 at 4 p.m. at the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Arrangements are with the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato.
Fabian was born Oct. 8, 1965, in Minneapolis, a proud citizen of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, and raised by his parents in Eden Prairie.
At 18, Fabian joined the 82nd Airborne Division of the military, where he served for six years.
Fabian started a family in a house that was always filled with laughter and love. He lived in Cokato with his family for 21 years.
Fabian loved his home, and it was his sanctuary, where he could always be himself. He was shy until you got to know him, but he had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh, and enjoyed life. Always a trickster, he enjoyed playing with and teasing his family.
Taking care of his family was most important to Fabian, and he was a great provider and protector. He looked at the world with an insightful, tolerant, and understanding eye.
Fabian is survived by his wife, Tina; daughter Mariah; parents Duane and Donna Stokke; brothers John and Kevin; and many nieces and nephews.

Hapsch, Mary Elizabeth 82

Mary Elizabeth Hapsch was born on the 4th of July in 1932 to John and Cecelia (Zeller) Collins in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from High School. On August 18, 1956 Mary married Harold Hapsch in Minneapolis at the Church of Visitation. The couple made their home first in Minneapolis and moved to Howard Lake in 1972 to be able to raise horses and their 7 daughters. In the early 80′s Mary was involved in an auto accident and became a longtime resident of the St. Mary’s Care Center of Winsted.
Mary worked for Linhardt Insurance company at the Foshay Tower for many years. She also worked at Green Giant of Cokato on the cutters in 1978. She had many hobbies, in her younger days she enjoyed her horses, bowling, needle work, singing, playing cards, and reading. Most recently she enjoyed bingo, The Minnesota Twins, going to lunch and the movies.
Mary passed away on March18, 2015 at Waconia Ridgeview Hospital. She had reached the age of 82 years, 7 months and 14 days.
Survivors include her 7 daughters: Lia (Mark) Jensen of Litchfield, Ann (Paul) Miller of Warba, MN. Laura Hapsch of Winsted, Renee (Mike Klucas) Hapsch of Hancock, MN. Leslie (Shawn Heaver) Hapsch of Glencoe, Maria (Kevin) Antil of Cokato, and Emily (Glenn) Gruenhagen of Watkins. Grand children: Jason (Cassy) Moe, Kelly Moe, Ashley Miller, Kayla Miller, Michael Allgood, Alley Allgood, Stephen (Kira) Slinde, Ryan Grahn, Haley Klucas, Bradley Klucas, Rachael (Andrew) Winters, Brittany (Kelly) Muscha, Derek Antil. Great grand children: Lydia Moe, Austin Winters, Gracelyn Winters Emma Muscha, and Jemma Slinde.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents John and Cecelia Collins, husband Harold, and brothers: Frank, Charles and Jack.

Funeral Service: 11:30 AM Saturday, March 21, 2015 at St. Mary’s Care Center of Winsted.
Visitation: 1 hr prior to service
Interment: Ft. Snelling National Cemetery

Donovan, Thomas Leo 78

Thomas Leo Donovan 78 of Cokato, passed away at Meeker County Memorial Hospital on March 12, 2015. Survivors include his children; Richard of Brooklyn Park, Pamela (Joe) Pearson of Cokato, Julie (Ty) Short of Plymouth and Tammera Donovan of Cokato. 12 grand and 19 great grandchildren (2 great grandchildren on the way). A memorial service will be held at 3:30 PM on Sunday, March 22, 2015, at New Live Assembly of God Church in Cokato. Visitation will begin there at 2:30. Interment will be at the Cokato City Cemetery.

Strohschein, Albert Arthur 96

Albert Arthur Strohschein was born on July 8, 1918 in Silver Creek Township, Wright County, Minnesota the son of Albert W. and Augusta (Bobrowska) Strohschein. He was baptized on August 4, 1918 at the Lutheran Church of Corinna Township by Pastor Alfred Streufert and confirmed in his faith by Pastor W.D. Kanning at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Middleville Township.

After Albert graduated from Buffalo High School in 1937, he managed the family farm. On February 28, 1947, he was married to Bessie Marohn at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Middleville. Their 64 years together were blessed with two children, Bruce and Lois.

They lived in Howard Lake where Albert and his brother Leonard owned and operated a Phillips 66 gas station and bulk delivery business from 1947 to 1965. After Leonard’s passing Albert continued with the bulk delivery service and petroleum distributorship until retiring in 1980.

Albert was a faithful member of St. James Lutheran Church, Howard Lake and had served as an Elder and sang in the church choir. He enjoyed wood refinishing, collecting antiques, gardening, and spending time with his family.

On March 10, 2015 while a resident at the Annandale Care Center, Albert was called to his eternal rest having reached the age of 96 years, 8 months and 3 days.

He was preceded in death by his wife Bess; parents Albert and Augusta Strohschein; brothers and sisters-in-law Leonard and Ruth, Marcus and Vi; sister-in-law Frieda and husband Fred Schendel.

Albert is survived by his son Bruce (Shirley) Strohschein of Shakopee; daughter Lois Strohschein of Annandale; two grandchildren Andrew (Annalisa) Strohschein residing in England and Jessica (Matthew) Volkman of St. Louis Park; nieces; nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake, with visitation 1 hour prior to the service at Church.

Pallbearers are Jessica Volkman, Matthew Volkman, Bob Schendel, Dr. Jonathan Strohschein, Rev. David Strohschein, and Tom Krohn.

Officiating at the celebration of his life is Reverend William Keller with Nancy Butterfass serving as organist.

Interment will be at the Howard Lake Cemetery.
