John attended Cokato HS, Gustavus Adolphus College, and the University of Minnesota Medical School. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corp and Reserves, honorably discharged with the rank of Colonel.
John’s practice of medicine began at Cokato Medical Clinic and extended for 35 years as Chief of Staff at multiple VA Hospitals. John held a particular fondness for the years he contributed to the faculty at the U of M.
Preceded in death by his parents, Gordy & Helen, brother Bob Bergstrom, sister-in-law Karen Bergstrom, brother-in-law James Marchand, and Judith Edmeyer Bergstrom, mother of his children.
Survived by spouse Marion (Terning) Bergstrom, children Jeff (Cheryl Conklin) Bergstrom, Naomi (Bob) Selzler, Sarita Bergstrom, step-children Stacy Forsberg, Jennifer Forsberg, Rebecca (Jeff) Arendt, one grandchild and two great grandchildren. Sister Margaret (Penny) Marchand
